An Evening at Corniche & Museum of Islamic Art

Awal2 sampai Doha that day... ni lah tempat pertama kitorg pergi. Suka sangat that time... ye la sampai sini time winter... sejuk & nyaman jek. Hadeef dok cakap, "Hadeef suka kat sini, kat luar pun ada aircond!". Member2 sini ckp, kalau datang time summer, mau rasa nak angkat beg & balik :) And until now belum betul2 rasa summer tu mcmana. Suspend betul la bila hubby keep on warning us'' "Jaga2 tau... dah nak masuk summer nih! Jangan terkejut tau." Oh yes... summer kat sini pernah cecah 50+ degrees. Memang dah nak dekat sangat la masuk summer tak lama lagi. Whole week hujan dok turun.... pertukaran angin la tu and it's getting warmer & warmer.

View of West Bay from Corniche

Mesti ada yang nak menyelit kat tengah...

Dhow memang banyak kat Corniche. Dhow is a traditional local fishing boat in this region. Off course la skang diorang dh pakai modern boat, so skang jadi tourist attraction. They offer Dhow Ride & ada juga package Night Dhow Cruising, which comes with dinner.

Tgk mamat2 main jetski (show off sket) sambil lepak2

Running Free :)
Pak Arab ni dok husha2 nak amik gambar ngan Dideep

Ada jugak yang memancing kat sini...

Our Dhow Ride... dapat nego QR30 one family. Overall trip dlm 30 minutes dok pusing2 kat Corniche.

Mcm citer Titanic tak?

Sunset

After the Dhow Ride, we all visited the Museum of Islamic Art, dekat Corniche tu jugak. Lagipun dah Maghrib that time, we need place for solah. Free admission tapi kat entrance tu mcm nak naik flight...beg masuk scanner n body check.

History (from wikipedia)

The museum draws much influence from ancient Islamic architecture, yet has a unique design. It was the first of its kind in the Persian Gulf and has a very large collection of Islamic art, plus a study and a library. A restaurant is planned in the future. Sabiha Al Khemir served as the founding director of the museum from 2006-2008. The museum has a total area of 45,000 m2 and lies on the edge of Doha harbour at the south end of Doha Bay. Construction by Baytur Constr.Co. (Turkey) reached completion in 2006, but the museum's interior was subjected to a variety of changes thereafter. The museum celebrated its VIP opening on November 22, 2008, and opened to the general public on December 8, 2008.

The museum houses a collection of works gathered since the late 1980s, including manuscripts, textiles and ceramics. It is one of the world’s most complete collections of Islamic artifacts, with items originating in Spain, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Turkey, India, and Central Asia. At the age of 91, Pei had to be coaxed out of retirement to undertake this enterprise. He traveled throughout the Muslim world on a six month quest to learn about Muslim architecture and history and read Muslim texts to draw inspiration for his design.

Declining all proposed sites for the museum, Pei suggested a stand-alone island for the structure in order to avoid the encroachment on other buildings. Thus it was built on the water, 64 acres (260,000 m2) approximately 195 feet (59 m) off the Doha Corniche and surrounded by a park.

Kat sini every corner & section ada guard. Pastu boleh nampak segala sensor kat displayed items... mcm dlm filem plak. This picture was taken by one of the guard....kelakar sbb nampak dia mcm excited sgt nak amik gambo kitorang.

Dagger & sword of Emperor Shah Jahan

This apparel is actually VERY LARGE!!!! Mcm 4 org nye badan, not sure if it was actually worn by someone before.

Outside the museum...

Generally, the building's structure and decoration is really fascinating. The collection covers 3 continents, from Spain to Central Asia and India, over more than a millennium from the 7th century CE, and provides a superb and remarkable insight into the cultural legacy of the Islamic world. The galleries are arranged according to themes; calligraphy, the figure in art, patterns and science in art. There are also lay out in a chronological series of displays from the earliest Islamic dynasties to the late Indian & Turkish empires. We all tak sempat nak explore semua. Budak2 dah mula meragam sebab lapar. Will definitely visit the museum again. Insya Allah...

The Journey (4) : Madinah to Riyadh to Doha

24-25 February 2012 (2-3 Rabiul Akhir 1433)

Off from Madinah to Riyadh... 9 pagi dah bertolak. Tak sempat bersolat Jumaat di Masjid Nabawi. Insya Allah diberi kesempatan yang lain. Memandu sejauh 950km. Di akhir2 perjalanan memang fizikal & mental dah penat. Tapi kenalah gagahkan jua... especially yang kena drive. Saya cuma "pom pom girl" dok sebelah jek :)

Singgah lunch di R&R. We had Chicken Mandhi.
At that time rasa dah tak tertelan lagi Mandhi ni... ntah dah berapa kali la we all makan Mandhi. Tapi dah rezeki.... karang tak makan lapar pulak :)

Beli roti ni kat R&R.... sedap! Ada cheese kat dlm. To keep in hot & fresh, kitorang 'jemur' kat dashboard bagi kena panas. Hehehe!

Selagi tak penat... selagi tu main jek diorg tahu :)

The surroundings....

Baru tau penat..... zzZzZZzzzzZzZzz

Sampai Riyadh dalam jam 8 lebih. Letihnya...... hati macam nak me'round' kononnya bandar Riyadh tapi memang dah tak larat. Especially hubby... kesian dia drive jauh2 & really need rest. Esoknya nak menyampaikan Doha lagi satu hal.

Golden Prince Hotel 6, Riyadh

Muka tu sebenarnya dah layu... kepenatan

Mlm tu we all order food from room.... restaurant yg ada delivery service. Byk flyers & menus they all letak kat lobby. Senang. Takyah pening2 kepalakan?

Lepas berguling... tidur dgn lenanya. Syok!

Our final route ~ Riyadh to Doha. Pagi2 lagi we all dah berangkat & teruskan our journey, without having proper breakfast. Apa2 yang ada dalam kereta tu we all makan buat alas perut. Plan after the busy town nak singgah mana2 for breakfast. Yang penting nak melepaskan sesak kat bandar Riyadh tu.... time org nak gi keje.

Out of the town. It was cloudy that day.

Within few minutes.... keadaan makin mendung.
Macam nak hujan jek.

Subhanallah!

Ya Allah.... hujan di Riyadh. Syukur! Agak jakun sbb dok kat Middle East ni memang sangat2 susah nak jumpa hujan.  Allahuakbar!

Teringat masa mula2 nampak sandstorm di Doha time nak ambil budak2 from school. Siap call hubby nk nangis sebab takut.... me atas jalan & the kids was still at school.

And during this journey, this was my worst experience in the sandstorm.
Lots of accident also... banyak kereta terbabas

Some of the photos taken during the sand storm. Mula masa kami masih lagi di Riyadh sehingga sampai Doha... how scary was that!? Nak stop untuk breakfast langsung takde peluang & the wind was so..... so strong. Kereta pun bergegar & rasa mengempar2. At one time, punyalah menahan nak ke toilet as I was very scared nak keluar dari kereta. Badan macam nak tercampak kena tiup angin & tak dapat nak muka mata.... dgn pasir all around us. But we do stop at one R&R nak isi minyak... & tgk2 ada kedai jual roti tempayan. So kami turun la makan as we were sooooo hungry at that time.

Relax jek.
Subhanallah!
Bila terpandang the camels, hati mcm cool sikit. Plus, kami bayangkan mcmanalah Rasulullah dahulu berhijrah & berdakwah merentasi padang pasir, dengan segala macam halangan. Allah Maha Besar! Ia dapat memberi keinsafan pada kami.

Getting worst....... seram! Earlier the sand color was orange... and now white. Pandangan tu lebih terjejas, It quite stressful for hubby... must be more alert. I can't even sleep even 1 second sebab risau. Tapi memang saya jarang tidur bila dia drive.... kena temankan dia always :)

Seram tak seram... kena juga stop. Nak solat, nak makan, nak gi toilet & nak rest. We just had Roast Chicken with Bread & Fries. Makan simple jek la.... bila dah penat, dah tak berapa nak makan.

Raining again after that

It was nearly Maghrib when we reached home

Leganya rasa hati bila dah tiba area rumah.

Thanks to Baba bawa kami menunaikan ibadah Umrah. Semoga Allah permudahkan perjalanan Baba mencari rezeki & sentiasa mendapat keberkatan :) we LOVE you

Semoga Allah menerima amal ibadah kami.
